MUSIC FOR DANCE + theater

Picture
David thrives on the  generative process of creating music for  dance and theatrical productions. Dance collaborations have inspired many compositions, with performances at venues including the Paul Taylor Dance Studio, the Clarice Smith Center, Dance Place, and the Kennedy Center.

Companies and choreographers for whom David has created scores include: PEARSONWIDRIG DANCETHEATER, Christopher K. Morgan & Artists, Stephanie Miracle Dances,  Helen Simoneau, Danse, Uprooted Dance,  Graham Brown, Daniel and Andrea Burkholder, Andrea Olsen and the Dance Company of Middlebury, Jane Franklin Dance, Margot Greenlee, Jessie Laurita-Spanglet, Sharon Wittig and Elevate Arts, Dance Exchange,  Molly Shanahan (MADSHAK), and Spooky Action Theater.

"Captivating, original compositions ... alternate between eerie and weird plucked string
compositions to exquisite, lyrically-lovely, soothing string quartets ... Tone poems that grip our
      souls with empathy."

      — Rosalind Lacey,  DC Theatre Scene,  describing original score for Spooky Action Theater
production of "The Man Who," based on writings of Oliver Sacks

David has been musician-in-residence at Dance Exchange since 2011.  He also joins leading modern dance musicians  Tigger Benford, Jesse Manno, and Peter Jones on Tigger's 2014 release, "Vessel of Gratitude."
